We Want You to Read!

Join us for a marathon cover-to-cover public reading of Jack Kerouac's first published novel, The Town and the City, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this story based on young Kerouac's adventures in Lowell and New York.

When?

Friday, March 10, 5 to 10 pm; Saturday, March 11, 10 am to 8 pm; and Sunday, March 12, 12 noon to 3 pm. (Please note that on Friday night at 8:30 pm, the reading will move to a special party at the Old Worthen tavern just one block from the Whistler House.)

Where?

The Whistler House Museum of Art, 243 Worthen Street, Lowell (birthplace of the famous American painter James McNeil Whistler)

Volunteers are needed. We are looking for four or five readers (10 to 15 minutes each) to commit to each hour during the three days.

If you are unable to help us with the reading, please come to the Kerouac Birthday Celebration on Sunday, March 12, at 2 pm for the closing of the reading.
